Pride and Prejudice

It's one of my favorite books. I love the BBC version featuring Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy. It will be hard to see someone else in the role. I mean, c'mon. Colin Firth IS Mr. Darcy. But I'm willing to give this new guy a try. That is if I could ever see the friggin movie! It hasn't come to Tallahassee yet, but when it does, I'll be the first in line.

The surprising (but wonderful) truth is, there is enough room in a woman's heart for two Mr. Darcys. ;)

A friend of mine (Kristina Cook) is just like you--she thinks of Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy. She's a little obsessed, actually. Anyway, Kristi lives in New York and actually got to see a preview showing of this movie. She loved it--and yes--she has now accepted the fact that there can be more than one interpretation of Mr. Darcy.
I'm waiting anxiously for this movie to come to Missoula. What do you want to bet it makes it to Tallahassee first?

I'm sad that Oxford, MS will probably not get Pride and Prejudice. Sigh.

I so want to see this movie.

Yep, (sheepish smile), I admit to a bit of a preoccupation with P&P--and to me, the Colin Firth/Jennifer Ehle version is THE definitive version, so I was VERY wary about a new version (especially with someone as popular as Keira Knightly playing Elizabeth and an actor I'd never heard of playing Darcy--I mean, Firth IS Darcy!). But, as Teresa said, I was suprised to find that I really enjoyed the movie! McFadyn played a completely different Darcy, as opposed to playing Colin Firth playing Darcy, and by the end, I totally warmed to him and his portrayal. Different, but good. And Keira Knightly did a perfectly charming Elizabeth, I thought. At least the actors were closer to the ages of the characters than in other versions! It's definitely worth seeing, even if you're a fan of the Firth version.

I'm another die-hard Colin Firth Mr. Darcy fan so I'm looking forward to seeing this movie-no sign of it yet. I still doubt anyone will shift darling Colin from my heart. (fans herself vigorously)
